A Fourth-Generation Aviator’s Passion
Charlie Morris’s aviation story begins at a young age, soaring into the skies with his father and grandfather at the family airstrip in Vine Grove, Kentucky. As a fourth-generation aviator and an Army veteran, Charlie’s early exposure to flight and his military service as a UAV operator formed the foundation of his remarkable journey. After serving his country, he set his sights on professional aerobatics, dedicating himself to thrilling audiences and inspiring future pilots.
The Super Decathlon: A Perfect Aerobatic Machine
Central to Charlie’s performance is the Super Decathlon 8KCAB—an aerobatic aircraft renowned for its versatility and capabilities. Equipped with a Lycoming AEIO-360-H1B, 180 HP engine and an inverted fuel and oil system, it’s designed to handle advanced aerobatic maneuvers. With a wing span of 32 feet and a g-loading of +6/-5, this nimble aircraft can execute gravity-defying stunts that leave spectators in awe. From precise loops to heart-stopping rolls, the Super Decathlon embodies the very spirit of aerial artistry.

The Super Decathlon’s advanced design allows for tight turns, rapid climbs, and controlled descents—all executed with finesse and confidence. Charlie’s effortless command of the aircraft and the roaring engine notes provided a high-energy spectacle that highlighted both pilot skill and machine capability.
Continuing a Legacy of Aviation Excellence
Charlie’s journey to the air show circuit is deeply rooted in family tradition and personal dedication. Beginning with glider flights at age 14, he soloed in a powered aircraft by 16 and continued to earn advanced ratings. Today, as a Certified Flight Instructor, he not only dazzles onlookers but also mentors the next generation of aviators. His performance at the Lake Cumberland Air Show underscores the continued importance of passing on knowledge, nurturing enthusiasm, and inspiring others to pursue their dreams.
